TEHRAN –(Iranart) he Cockpit Theater in London is hosting a performance of Persian traditional music today, June 25, where masters of Iranian classical music will play and sing for Londoners

Vocalist Hamidreza Nourbakhsh, one of the outstanding students of Master Mohammadreza Shajarian, will sing at the event accompanied by Master Daryoush Pirniakan on tar and setar (Iranian string instruments) and Behnam Samani on tombak and daf (Persian drum-like instruments), Honaronline reported.

From June 21-24, the play ‘Samand’ written and directed by prize-winning theater director Iraj Emami was also staged at the theater.

Based in London, Emami holds a master’s degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and a PhD in theater from University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

A production of Hamava Art Group, the play performed in Farsi, was a 90-minute social drama about the trade in human organs.

Emami had a role in the show besides Daryoush Alvand, Hasan Parvaneh, Hady Takestany, Roshia Aba, Reza Kermani, Hady Shafiey, Mehdi Bandarchi and Behrouz Emami.
