“Release from Heaven” tops at Accolade Global Film Competition

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iran director Ali Nuri Oskui’s animated feature “Release from Heaven” has won one two top awards at the Accolade Global Film Competition in the United States.

The competition is organized each season by MovieMaker, an American quarterly magazine focused on the art and business of filmmaking with a special emphasis on independent films.

The film, which won the Animation that Matters Award at the Animation Day in Cannes in May, is about a female writer and teacher, who accompanies two of her students on an inner spiritual journey in a war torn country.

“A visually stimulating, mixed-technique animation that blurs the lines between imagination, storytelling and reality,” the jury of the competition said about the animation in its statement.

“Oskui expertly weaves the past, the fictional and the current journey together,” the statement added.

The Accolade Global Film Competition also awarded the U.S. filmmaker Mark Jonathan Harris’ documentary feature “Breaking Point: The War for Democracy in Ukraine”.

Winners are awarded the Accolade statuette, a 24K gold-plated statue of three beautiful stars mounted on a piano finished base of rosewood that is manufactured by the company that makes the world’s most prestigious and celebrated awards, the Oscar and the Emmy.
