Art Event Reviews Illustrations From 1979 to Date

TEHRAN.(Iranart) he 5th edition of ‘Art Ceremony’ is underway at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran, where the historical development of illustrations by Iranian artists from the 1979 Islamic Revolution to date, is on display.

This year’s event is dedicated to illustration, as a separate branch of graphics. “We have focused on book illustrations, of especially Persian and religious stories, and we want to show a period of illustration history (in our country) which is not much known to today’s children (and young adults),” said Fatemeh Kafizadeh, curator of the event.

Some of the original illustrations at the exhibit have been acquired from the artists who created them; they are for sale too. However, many of the displayed works have been borrowed from Nazar Publications, Monadi Publishing House and particularly the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (known as Kanoon), which has a large archive of illustrations by many great artists; the borrowed works are not for sale, Honaronline reported.

Last year, the fourth edition was dedicated to calligraphy paintings, with most of the works inspired from poetic and Qur’anic verses and names of God, by 54 artists.

Launched on June 9, the 5th edition will be open to the public through June 19 at the IAF located at Art Garden, N. Mousavi St., Taleqani Ave.
