Veteran Iranian painter and art expert Aidin Aghdashlu who is presiding over the jury of the 6th Damonfar Visual Arts Festival this year said he is impressed by the wide variety of works sent to the biennial event.

iranart : This edition enjoys more variety, indicating that the younger generation has searched new fields and has reviewed part of the art that is seen less,” Aghdashlu, who is the head of the jury council of the festival, told the Persian service of Honaronline on Thursday.

“I believe this diversity is of higher priority over the paintings themselves. Viewing the works was very pleasing for me since I saw different kinds of outlooks and opinions.

“This high diversity and variety of works is an interesting piece of news for the artists. But how far it will go and how long it will last would be a matter of the future. Despite all these, the artworks have revealed an impatient soul that does not restrict itself to praise and admiration, and this is quite precious,” he explained.

“It has taken a long time for Damonfar to have reached this point, and this is of high significance,” he remarked.

The Damonfar Visual Arts Festival is dedicated to artists under 25 years of age.

The sixth edition will open at Tehran’s Mellat Cineplex on January 9 and will end on January 20.

Firuzeh Mozaffari, Puya Aryanpur and Golnaz Fat’hi are the three jury members of the festival this year.

The Damonfar Company is the Iranian representative of France’s Pebeo and Germany’s Faber-Castell, two companies that manufacture art materials.

The first place winner will get an opportunity to travel to Germany to visit the Faber-Castell factory.
