“The Arkansas Bear” to go on stage in Tehran

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Iranian director Mehdi Moqimi Esfandabadi will stage American playwright Aurand Harris’ “The Arkansas Bear” at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) in Tehran on Sunday, the IIDCYA announced on Monday.

Translated into Persian by Behzad Nejadqanbar, the play is about Tish, a little girl who is upset about her grandfather’s approaching death.

One day in a world of fantasy provided by her wish on a star, she meets the world’s greatest dancing bear, who is old and is running away from death.

Trying to help the bear, Tish understands that death does not have to be final and the stories that one generation passes on to the next can become a form of immortality.

A cast composed of Mohsen Safari, Maliheh Moqimi, Mohsen Qasri, Somayyeh Salmani and Danial Boluri will perform the play, which will be on stage until June 21.
