New York hosts 1st festival of Iranian films

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – A selection of acclaimed movies are on screen at the 1st Iranian Film Festival New York underway at the IFC Center, a movie theater in the U.S. city.

Veteran Iranian director Bahman Farmanara is currently in New York to promote his movies “Tale of the Sea”, “I Want to Dance” and “Tall Shadows of the Wind” durng the festival.

“Pig” by Mani Haqiqi, “Hendi and Hormoz” by Abbas Amini, “The Home” by Asghar Yusefinejad, “Sly” by Kamal Tabrizi, “3 Faces” by Jafar Panahi and “Sheeple” by Hooman Seyyedi have also been selected to be screened at the festival that opened last Thursday. 

The festival is also screening three short films “Take Me Home” by legendary filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, “Animal” by Bahram and Bahman Ark and “Lunch Time” by Alireza Qasemi.

Kiarostami’s close friend Seifollah Samadian’s montage film “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” will also go on screen. 

Organized by Daricheh Cinema, an Iranian film distribution company, and IFC Center, the festival will come to an end on Tuesday.
