Writer Nasser Irani dies at 81, body donated to science
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Nasser Irani, an Iranian writer who was mostly famous for his novel “Long Live Death”, died from a chronic illness on Wednesday in his home in Tehran. His body was donated to the University of Tehran for educational and research purposes based on his last will and testament.
“The University of Tehran plans to hold a memorial service for him in the near future,” writer Qasem-Ali Ferasat, a close friend of Irani.
In the 1980s, he went to the frontline during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war to find subjects to write about.
“The Elephant in the Dark House”, “The Hole”, “In the End” and “The Pictorial Story to Warn Children under and above Fifty” are among his credits
Irani also created a number plays, including “Change Us to Copper” and “Three Boring Plays”.
“Long Live Death”, in which Irani criticized intellectuals, was praised by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when he served as president.
