Hashemi’s Film Wins Award in California Fest

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - A ctor, director and screenwriter Afshin Hashemi won the prize for the best screenplay at the 6th Love International Film Festival (LIFF) in Beverly Hills, California, for his feature film “Temporary License”.

Hashemi competed with American screenwriter Brian Maurer’s film “In the Wake of Ire,” Bidyut Kotoky’s  “Rainbow fields,” from India, Allen Yi’s “Fighters” from Japan and Gorune Aprikian’s “Just A Fling” from France.

Temporary License was nominated in six categories at the July 24-27 festival.

Hashemi was nominated for best director, best screenplay and best picture awards while Esmael Mehrabi and Masoud Keramati were nominated for best actor award and Asghar Rafieijam for best cinematography, ISNA reported.

The 90-minute comedy is a story of two old men who after discovering they have a terminal illness, decide to embark on a journey in the night.

Other cast members include Pantea Bahram, Shaqayeq Farahani, Shabnam Farshadjou, Morteza Zarrabi and Shaqayeq Dehqan.

Produced in 2015, the film is the third by Hashemi and has been screened in Australia, Peru, Canada, Belgium and Germany.

Proceeds from ticket sales of the festival went to the Lotus Light Children’s Charity in Los Angeles.
