Kinolub festival honors Iranian movies
TEHRAN –(Iranart)- “Twenty-one Days Later” and “Icky”, both by Iranian filmmakers, won honorable mentions at the Kinolub International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Poland, the organizers announced last Wednesday.
Directed by Mohammadreza Kheradmandan, “Twenty-one Days Later” tells the story of Morteza, a young boy who wants to accomplish his father’s unfulfilled wish and faces many challenges in doing so.
The film “impressed us with great production design and acting, as well as maturity in approaching an important topic,” the jury said in its statement.
“Icky” by Parastu Kardgar is about a kid, who lives in a world of people with Rubik’s cube heads and is different from the others.
“Icky” received the honorable mention “for an original approach to the subject of diversity, captured in an extraordinary metaphor about one’s place in society,” the jury said.
The Kinolub festival, which is currently underway in Krakow, Kielce, Rzeszow, Rybnik, Busko and several other cities in southern Poland, will run until June 22.
The Grand Prix for Best Feature Film went to “Halkaa” directed by Nila Madhab Panda from India, while the Grand Prix for Best Short Film was awarded to “Unicorn” (La Licorne) directed by Rémi Durin from France.
