Zaha Hadid Architects to Hold Workshop in Tehran
contemporary Architects Association in Tehran will conduct a workshop in cooperation with designers from Zaha Hadid Architects, a reputed British architecture and design firm based in London.
The workshop titled ‘Code-Structured City: Hyperloop LA’ (not to be confused with the emerging high-speed transportation mode), is a week-long training course from December 17-23, ISNA reported.
The upcoming event is the association’s third of the Walk & Talk lecture series which started in June. The programs have been organized with the participation of renowned architects from Iran and elsewhere.
Iran-born architect and fashion designer Arian Hakiminejad who is based in London, and Italy’s Stefano Paiocchi, a lead architect of Zaha Hadid Architects, will conduct the workshop at the association premises at No. 7, Second Alley, Hassan Seyf Street, San’at Square in the Sharak-Gharb district.
This time, Walk & Talk explores the large-scale infrastructure ‘Hyperloop’ in search of geometrical configurations offering spatial opportunities, experimental projects and arrangements that are new and unreferenced.
The training will help and encourage participants to explore and experiment new possibilities in the field. The workshop will discuss inspiring ideas for a meaningful connection between architecture and the urban fabric. The Zaha Hadid Architects is globally famous for creation of harmony in urban architecture.
Participants will study, analyze, decompose, and recompose pre-defined components (minimal surfaces) in terms of geometrically involved parameters. The workshop will show various methods of aggregation, expandability and networking for the created components. And in the final stage it will introduce ways to produce intelligent design systems, while seeking to make studies responsive to project site and surrounding fabric.
World Renowned
Iraqi-born British architect, Zaha Mohammad Hadid, who died at the age 65 after a sudden heart attack in March this year, was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. It is awarded annually to honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of qualities of talent, vision and commitment. In 2015, she became the first woman to be awarded the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Her acclaimed work and ground-breaking forms include the aquatic center for the London 2012 Olympics, the Broad Art Museum in the US, and the Guangzhou Opera House in China.
Many of her designs are to be released posthumously, ranging from the 2017 Brit Awards (February 2017) statuette to a 2022 FIFA World Cup stadium.
Int’l Collaboration
Upon receiving his Bachelor of Architecture, Arian Hakiminejad joined the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona where he graduated in both urban design and smart solar houses. After graduation he started collaborating with ON-A, an architecture firm in Barcelona, while continuing his research.
Hakiminejad has conducted over 10 international workshops collaborating with architects, fashion designers, and engineers.
Currently, he works at Zaha Hadid office in London where he conducts practical research in the fields of ‘Parametric Design & Complex Geometry Rationalization.’
Hakiminejad has developed various algorithms for generating facade components on a non-constant curvature surface for an-award winning metro station project in Riyadh.
Distinction
Stefano Paiocchi graduated with the highest distinctions at the Milan Polytechnic in Italy and received a degree in M. Arch. from the architecture school of SCI-Arc in Los Angeles.
There he started collaboration with American architect, professor and author Neil Denari and his office ‘Neil M. Denari Architects (NMDA)’ and worked on a wide range of projects including his famous sculptural design, ‘HL23’ that is an 11-floor residential building in West Chelsea, NY.
Before joining Zaha Hadid Architects in 2013, Paiocchi collaborated with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, an interdisciplinary design studio integrating architecture, visual arts and performing arts based in New York City. He was also a guest lecturer and critic at Cornell University in NY and Harvard University in Massachusetts.
