186 Artifacts Win National Cultural Heritage Status
TEHRAN (Iranart) - A total of 186 museum pieces have recently been registered in Iran’s National Cultural Movable Heritage List.
The registered artifacts belong to West Azarbaijan, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Fars provinces and are preserved in the National Museum of Iran, Mir-Emad Museum and Sa’dabad Complex, all in Tehran, Mehr News Agency reported.
Movable heritage is a term used to define any natural or manufactured object of heritage significance.
Some 35 of the pieces are potteries from Nishabur in Khoarsen Razavi Province that are in the national museum. Twenty of them are calligraphies in Nasta’liq script by prominent 16th century Persian calligraphers, Mir Ali Heravi and Shah Mahmoud Nishaburi.
There also are 27 paintings by highly acclaimed poet, calligrapher and painter Mahmoud Khan Malek-o-Sho’arā (1813-1893).
The list includes 27 relics discovered at the archeology sites of Tappeh Hassanlu in West Azarbaijan Province, and 36 pieces from the archaeological site of Shahr-e Sukhteh (Burnt City) in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The news agency said 36 items are from Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (550–330 BC), 70km northeast of Shiraz and 10 pieces from the ruins of the ancient city of Susa in southern Khuzestan Province.
