Seven Films Will Compete in American Festival

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – S even films from Iran are in the line-up for Trenton Film Festival in the US slated for March 22-25.

The event in Trenton, the capital of New Jersey state, will be featuring films in seven categories, including narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, animation, experimental and music video.

For this year’s event 53 films from 16 countries will be screened, Honaronline reported.

In the animation section Iran is participating with ‘Light Sight’ directed by Seyyed Moslem Tabatabaei and ‘Blows With the Wind’ by Hazhir As’adi.

Light Sight is a short animation about an imprisoned character in a room attracted to a hanging light and tries to catch it. But the room itself becomes an obstacle in his way. Blows With the Wind is about a scarecrow in a field that finds itself becoming more and more human.

In the documentary short section Sadeq Jafari will be competing with his ‘Weavers of Imagination’. The film is about blind men and women in Iran weaving intricately patterned carpets buy using Braille.

‘Kupal’ directed by Kazem Mollaei will be vying in the narrative feature section while ‘Lunch Time’ by Alireza Qasemi, ‘The Guy Came on Horseback’ by Hossein Rabiei Dastjerdi and ‘Pale Mirrors’ by Salem Salavati are in the narrative short section.

Kupal is the story of a taxidermist who faces a strange challenge in his life one week before the beginning of Nowrouz, the new Iranian year.

In Lunch Time, a 16-year-old girl is forced to take the harsh responsibility of identifying her mother’s body.

The Guy Came on Horseback is set in rural Iran. A father must figure out what to do with his disabled son who has fallen in love with a neighbor’s daughter.

In Pale Mirrors, a woman tries to seize her last opportunity to be a mother. The festival is organized by the Trenton Film Society, a non-profit organization with a mission to entertain, educate and engage the people in Trenton through movies.
