ECO Cultural Institute to showcase illustrations on Yalda Night

TEHRAN.(Iranart) -- The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute (ECI) in Tehran will be playing host to an exhibition of illustrations by Iranian artists to celebrate Yalda Night, the longest night of the year, opening on December 20.

Yalda Night falls on December 21. Dating back to ancient Iran, it celebrates the birth of Mithra, the goddess of light. It is also known as the Chelleh Night.

ECO president Mohammad-Mehdi Mazaheri and a number of foreign diplomats are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibit named “Paper Yalda”.

49 illustrators, including Bahar Akhavan, Alireza Oji, Marjan Sabeti, Saba Safa, Kianush Gharibpur and Laleh Ziai, will showcase their works at the exhibit. 

The works will be on display until December 31 at the Diplomatic Gallery of the ECI located on 3 Movahhed Danesh St., off Nilufar St., in the Aqdasieh neighborhood.

In addition, the Neyestan Publications and the Seen Studio are cooperating in organizing the exhibit.
