TEHRAN.(Iranart) – W ith the end of the mourning period in the months of Muharram and Safar (in the lunar calendar), and the start of the month of Rabi-al-Awwal, music groups and singers have resumed their programs across the country.

During the past two months, no live musical performances were held except for a few religious programs as Iranians mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims, and his 72 aides and close family members in 680 AD in the desert of Karbala, Iraq.

The news website Sazoghalam.ir, which covers music events, has prepared a brief list of live performances across Tehran during Azar (the last month of fall in Persian calendar November 22-December 21):

November 23 is the first night of the concerts when pop and rock singer, composer, guitarist and actor Reza Yazdani, 43, will sing at Milad Tower at 6:30 and 9:30 pm. A selection of pieces from his new album ‘The Mixed’ will be among the repertoire.

  Already Sold Out

On November 28, Milad Tower will host a pop concert by singer Behnam Bani, 30 at 6 and 9:30 pm. His concert is already sold out similar to his first concert at Milad Hall of Tehran Permanent Fairground in August, which was sold out within 15 minutes.

Until his first official album, including 14 tracks, was out in September, Bani had a large fan base across the country for almost 20 singles he had released earlier.

Folk band Dang Show will appear at Vahdat Hall on November 29 at 9:30 pm,  and a sold-out pop concert by Hoorosh Band is slated the day after at Milad Tower, starting at 6 and 9 pm. On December 4, pop singer and composer Mazyar Fallahi, 42, will perform at the same venue. He is popular for his emotional songs.

The venue is booked on the following day, December 5, for a concert by another pop singer Alireza Talischi, 32. He will have two performances at 7 and 10:15 pm.

Xanyar Khosravi’s pop band has booked the Milad Hall on December 6 and will perform at 7 and 10:15 pm. On December 7, veteran pop singer of romantic melodies Fereydoun Asrai, 61, will sing for his fans at the iconic Milad Tower in north Tehran.

  Energetic Songs

For two consecutive nights (Dec. 7 and 8) Milad Hall is booked for four performances by pop singer, composer, trumpet player and music arranger Omid Hajili, 33. He will appear on stage at 7 and 10 pm. Hajili, who has released three albums so far, is famous for his funk and rhythmic songs.

Prolific pop singer Hamed Homayoun, 34, a record setter in several live events, will be at Milad Tower on December 8 with two concerts at 6 and 9:30 pm.

Homayoun released his first album in January; however, he is considered one of the most popular singers in Iran. The audiences attending his concerts enjoy his energetic performances on stage.

Pop singer and pianist Sina Shabankhani, 28, will sing for his fans December 11 at Milad Hall at 7 and 10 pm.

Celebrated pop singer Mehdi Jahani will appear at Milad Tower December 12 at 7:45 and 9:45. His first official concert, held less than two months ago in Tehran, was warmly received.
