Sheed Persian Film Festival announces lineup

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Nine films have been selected to compete in the 2nd Sheed Persian Film Festival, while three will go on screen in the non-competition section, the organizers announced on Saturday.

No Date, No Signature” by Vahid Jalilvand, “Israfil” by Ida Panahandeh, “Yellow” by Mostafa Taqizadeh, “Ferrari” by Alireza Davudnejad and “Azar” by Mohammad Hamzei are among the competing films.

Also included are “August” by Bahman Kamyar, “Do You Hear Me?” by Hossein Kondori, “Malaria” by Parviz Shahbazi and “Sara and Aida” by Maziar Miri.

“Golden Point” by Purya Kakavand, “Rain Was Falling” by Ali Safikhani and “Temporary License” by Afshin Hashemi will be screened in the non-competition section.

This year’s jury committee includes film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum, Professor Richard Pena and Iranian film critic Hushang Golmakani.

Winners of the festival will be presented with a CloseUp Award this year in memory of the legendary Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

The award, which has been named after Kiarostami’s 1990 masterwork “Close-Up”, will be presented to the best film, best director and best actor and actress.

The festival, which aims to promote and introduce Iranian cinema, will be held in Dallas, Texas from November 10 to 12.
