Dormishian’s Film Premier in Sao Paulo Festival

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – A cclaimed movie director Reza Dormishian’s fourth feature film ‘White Chairs’ had its world premiere at the 41st International Sao Paulo Film Festival, October 19-November 1.

The English-language film, a joint production of Iran and New Zealand, is a love story of two young people who lost their parents in the Canterbury earthquake in England. They are both deeply in love though they never dare talk to each other. The feeling of attachment exists in their mind, however, they cannot express it, ISNA reported.

The film focuses on showing the human being as culprit for the deaths caused by the earthquake, not nature. The premise for blame is the way humans construct buildings.

The cast includes actors from New Zealand Mathew Jolis, Emily Hurley and Michael Adams among others.

The Brazilian festival is a non-profit film event held annually in October, organized by the Brazilian Association of International Film Festival.

Born in Tehran, Dormishian, 35, started cinema activities by writing film critiques for newspapers. He also worked as a screen writer. Before making his own films, he had collaboration with prominent directors such as Dariush Mehrjui, Fereydoun Jeyrani, and Alireza Davoudnejad. ‘White Chairs’ is his fourth feature film. His previous movies ‘Lantouri’, ‘I Am Not Angry’ and ‘Hatred’ have all won awards at international festivals.
