Tehran center to host Afghan art exhibit

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran will host the 1st Nimrouz Global Visual Art Exhibition of Afghanistan from November 3 to 17.

The exhibit takes its name from one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, located in the southwestern part of the country.

A collection comprised of 130 works, including paintings, calligraphic paintings, sculptures, photos and installations by 53 Afghan artists residing in France, Germany, Australia, Pakistan, Iran, Norway and several other countries, will be on display, the center announced in a press release on Saturday.

A book containing works by famous Afghan artists will also be introduced during the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which be curated by Iranian sculptor Maryam Kuhestani.

The exhibit has been organized to help the artists of the two countries of Iran and Afghanistan get to know more about the visual arts of the two countries.

The Niavaran Artistic Creations Foundation and the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran are the co-organizers of the exhibit.
