‘Asphyxia’ to Premiere in Estonia Film Festival

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- V eteran director Ferydoun Jeirani’s latest feature film ‘Asphyxia’ is among the official selection competition line-up for the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

Making its international premiere at the Estonian festival, the film tells the story of a nurse in a mental hospital who is dragged into a potential murder plot. She is forced to take sides between a wealthy woman feigning madness and her husband who, she claims, is plotting to murder her for the inheritance, ISNA reported.

The movie received Crystal Simorgh Awards for best special effects as well as best photography at the 35th Fajr Film Festival in February.

On the screen for over a week at hoime cinemas, it has been warmly welcomed and earned over $250,000 in the box office.

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is one of the largest and prominent film events in Northern Europe and among the 15 top film festivals of the world.

The event, which brings together filmmakers from across continents, has two international competition programs, including the Main Competition and the Tridens First Features Competition. There also is a traditional program for documentaries, feature and short films plus special events including retrospectives, exhibitions and talks.

This year’s festival, in the capital of the northern European state, will be held Nov. 17-Dec. 3.
