Rendezvous with Madness festival to screen movies from Iran

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- The 25th edition of the Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival, which will be held in Toronto, Canada from November 3 to 11, will screen two Iranian films.

Mehrdad Oskui’s acclaimed documentary “Starless Dreams” will be screened on November 5 and Hossein Kondori’s drama “Nobody Dies Here” will go on screen on November 7.

“Starless Dreams”, which has been awarded at many international events, shows the lives of seven young teenage girls sharing temporary quarters at a rehabilitation and detention center on the outskirts of Tehran.

“Nobody Dies Here” is about a young conscript, Ashkan, who is sent to a distant, isolated frontier where he lives alone to complete his military service. Left for weeks with nothing but his memories and fears to keep him company, Ashkan begins to wonder whether he’s losing his grip on reality.

The Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival is the first and largest mental health film festival in the world, which organizes review sessions after each screening, which is being attended by filmmakers, mental health professionals and people who have lived through mental health experiences.
