Iran’s “Hearing” awarded at Serbian festival

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – “Hearing”, the acclaimed play from the Mehr Theater Group, has received the Jovan Cirilov Special Award at the 51st Belgrade International Theater Festival – Bitef in Serbia, the Iranian troupe led by director Amir-Reza Kuhestani announced on Tuesday.

Maria Shevtsova from England, Margareta Sorenson from Sweden, Ivana Sajko from Croatia, and Drasko Adzic and Igor Koruga, both from Serbia, were the members of the jury of the festival, which was held from September 22 to 30.

The Bitef was co-founded by theater expert Jovan Cirilov and director Mira Trailovic in 1967.

“Hearing” is about an older student of a girls’ boarding school who conducts a successive hearing of younger ones, one of whom claims to have heard a male voice from another student’s room.

Elham Korda, Mahin Sadri, Mona Ahmadi and Aynaz Azarhush were the main members of the cast for the play.

They have previously performed the play in Italy, France, Germany and several other countries.
