TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Violinist’, a 2016 social film directed by Mohammad-Ali Talebi, has taken Kumamoto City Prize from Fukuoka International Film Festival 2017, held September 15-24 in the city of Fukuoka, Japan.

The prize was a runner up prize to the Audience Award, according to the website of the festival (focus-on-asia.com).

After receiving the award Talebi said he was delighted. “It is a really special prize, particularly since it comes from everyone in the audience. This is the fourth time I’m participating in this festival and I am truly grateful for this award. I was very depressed after I lost my son. I made this film in order to pull myself out of depression and your award helped me.” His 28 year old son Arash died in a road accident in March 2015.

Violinist is a story of Kianush, a young busker who plays the violin on the streets of Tehran. One day, a piano-playing girl is impressed by his superb performance and suggests they play together. However, he loses his violin at a bus stop.

The film is based on a true story which portrays a young man trying to bridge the gap between his harsh life and his dreams. Kianoush Shahnazi, Saba Fadaee, Peyman Moqadami, Alireza Talebi and Saman Nodehi are in the cast.
