TEHRAN –(Iranart) n the occasion of Iran’s National Day of Literature for Children and Young Adults (July 9), the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults is to hold an exhibition of book illustrations by pioneers of the art in Tehran.
Treasured Illustrations’ is the title of the exhibit. Slated for July 9-19, it will feature a collection of old illustrations from the treasured collection of the organizing institute, according to the website of Iranian Illustrators Society (casi.ir).
The featured illustrations are a number of celebrated works created between 1960’s and 1980’s. They are by prominent illustrators such as painters Bahman Dadkhah, 77, Nikzad Nojoumi, 76, and Mohammad Reza Dadgar, 68.
Also on display are the illustrations by graphic designer Behzad Gharibpour, 60; animator and director Noureddin Zarrinkelk, 80; graphic designer, animator, sculptor and painter Farshid Mesqali, 74; author graphic designer Niloufar Mirmohammadi, 48; and painter and caricaturist Mohammad Ali Baniasadi, 62.
Works by the late illustrator Bahram Khaef (1946-2003) are also included. The exhibit has other sections for displaying the illustrations of religious and scientific books. There are also some illustrations of touch-and-feel books.
The exhibit is held at the Center for Cultural and Artistic Creations affiliated to the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, located on Hejab Street, south of Fatemi Street. Visiting hours are from 9 am-5 pm.
