Art Center to Display Environmental Works

TEHRAN.(Iranart) he environmental art exhibition ‘Soul of the Earth’ will open at Art Center Gallery in northern Tehran on July 13.

 

 

Artworks at the event, including different fields of visual art, are part of the environmental art project held last September on the theme of wildlife, Honaronline reported.

For the project, 27 artists made a three-day trip to Khar Turan National Park (also known as Turan Wildlife Refuge) in Semnan Province, said Mina Mohitian, executive secretary of the project.

The project focused on the environment in order to reinforce nature in the field of art, connect artists with nature and get familiar with animal species.

Environmental art refers to the artistic works that are intended to enhance or become part of the environment or make a statement on environmental issues.

A book containing all the displayed works will also be unveiled at the opening of the exhibition. 

“Published by Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the book contains information on Khar Turan to help readers get acquainted with the area and its wildlife, and understand the risks that the animals face due to poachers, and how artists can help them survive,” Mohitian said.

Filmmaker Mohammad Hamzei will also release a documentary he has made on the entire project, at the event.

Painter and graphic designer Behzad Shishegaran, painter Ali Nedaei, sculptor Jamshid Moradian, painter Gizella Varga Sinai, filmmaker Khosrow Sinai, painter Behnam Kamrani and painter Jamshid Haqiqatshenas are among the artists whose works will be presented.

The exhibit will run for two weeks at the gallery located at No 147, end of North Salimi St., Andarzgou Blvd., Farmaniyeh neighborhood.
