Film Museum of Iran to review Italian neorealist cinema

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- The Film Museum of Iran in Tehran announced on Saturday a plan to review Italian neorealist cinema during a five-day program, which will begin on Thursday.

Italian neorealism, also known as the Golden Age, is a national film movement characterized by stories set among the poor and the working class, filmed on location, and frequently using non-professional actors.

Roberto Rossellini’s 1945 war thriller “Rome, Open City” and Vittorio De Sica’s movies “Shoeshine” (1946), “Bicycle Thieves” (1948) and “Miracle in Milan” (1951) and “Umberto D.” (1952) will be screened during the program.

An exhibition of posters and stills from the Italian neorealist films will also be organized at the museum on the sidelines of the event.
