TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Iranian Academy of the Arts is to host a workshop on traditional needlework of Sistan and Baluchestan Province in early autumn by instructor, researcher and handicraft artist Shahin Pezeshki.
The three-day course will include basic levels of sewing style of the local residents of the southeastern province, IRNA reported on its Persian website.
Needlework is one of the best known and interesting handicrafts created by Iran’s Baluchi women. They are mainly used to adorn women’s dresses. The colorful embroidery is stitched on the upper part of dresses and sleeves. The traditional style of needlework from Sistan and Baluchestan has been registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
