Herbert Bayer’s Work Under Restoration at Sa’dabad
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – A silkscreen print by American-Austrian graphic designer, photographer, sculptor and interior designer Herbert Bayer (1900-1985), kept at Sa’dabad Cultural Complex in Tehran, is being restored.
Bayer’s “Striped Twists,” a chromatic print art, one of the series of 70 works created in 1968 under the same title, which has been kept at the Nations Art Museum of Sa’dabad, is now at the conservation laboratory of the complex for restorative work.
To save the print from further biological degradation, it was moved to the laboratory to be safeguarded against dust, humidity, fungal growth and acidity. After the biological work, the artwork will be physically solidified, ISCA News Agency reported on its Persian website.
Bayer is considered as an artistic polymath. He was one of the influential proponents of Bauhaus, the early 20th century German modernist art school that combined craft and fine art. He worked in a wide range of fields including painting, sculpture, typography, advertising and architecture. He is one of the most recognized designers to come from the Bauhaus institution and his theories of design are still taught in schools.
