Deputy culture minister opens Italian art exhibit in Tehran

TEHRAN (Iranart) - Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini opened an Italian art exhibition in Tehran on Monday.

People and Land of Wool, a collection of 60 photographs by Italian photographer Mauro Vitale that trace similarities between the Iranian nomads and the ancient culture in southern Italy, are on display at the Nami Gallery of Artists Forum in Tehran.

Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini, Mauro Vitale, Director of Institute for Development of Contemporary Art Mahdi Afzali, Director of Tehran Municipality's Art and Culture Organization Majid Rajabi Memar, CEO of Iranian Artists Forum Seifollah Samadian, Italian diplomats and cultural attaches residing in Tehran attended the opening ceremony on Monday.

The photos were taken by Italian photographer Vitale for the exhibit organized on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the Image of the Year Celebration. The collection has been awarded the Medal of the Presidency of the Italian Republic.

Vitale was the head of a photo project for D’Abruzzo magazine for five years. He collaborates with magazines and publishers at the national level. He has published books and excursion guides that use photography to investigate nature, architecture, popular traditions and the manifestations of spirituality.
