TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Self-taught painter Hossein Aqaeepour, known for his map arts, is holding a solo exhibit ‘Away from Hustle and Bustle of City Life’ in the noisiest city of Iran.

Young Photographers’ House in Tehran is hosting Aqaeepour’s third exhibition of his map arts. His earlier programs were held in Gilan Province where he was born and now lives.

The present event opened February 15 and will end on Feb. 21, according to Onlineartgallery.ir

Aqaeepour extracts figures and portraits from city maps and paints them on canvas. By transforming city maps into human forms, he suggests that common images can be perceived differently.

In a note to this solo he says: “By looking at the roads, which connect places on Earth, from above and with a little imagination, one can create a new dimension of the cities and roads. It depends on how we look at it … I hope I can offer different portraits of cities.”

The paintings show streets and roads but without cars and the related hustle and bustle. Young Photographers’ House is located at No. 3, 4th Alley, Asadabadi (Yousefabad) Street.
