TEHRAN.(Iranart) – C alligrapher Javad Bakhtiari will pay tribute to the renowned pioneer of graphic design in Iran Morteza Momayez (1935-2005) at the first exhibition of his newly established art gallery.

Named Naqsh-o-Khat (Design & Script), the Tehran gallery will open at a special ceremony on February 16, Honaronline wrote.

On the reason why he has dedicated the opening of his gallery to Momayez, Bakhtiari said, “I have always respected him and held in esteem his character and art,”

Momayez created several cultural institutions, exhibitions and graphic design publications during his distinguished career. He also made three short animated films, one of which, ‘A Green Point’ (1972), won an honorary diploma at the Moscow Film Festival in 1973. He also was set and costume designer for several films and theater productions.

Bakhtiari said his upcoming exhibit will be showcasing works from various art fields created by renowned Iranian artists - contemporary artists and friends of Momayez – including Parviz Tanavoli, Aydin Aghdashlou, Bahman Mohasses, Jazeh Tabatabaei, Farideh Lashaei as well as calligraphies by Bakhtiari himself. 

The exhibit will run until February 27 at the gallery located at 12 Roshanaei Alley, Vafamaneh St., Heravi Square.
