Navesi’s Photorealist Paintings at Niavaran Center

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - A n exhibition of Rahim Navesi’s photorealist paintings opened on Friday at Niavaran Cultural Center in north Tehran.

Photorealism is a style of painting, depicting commonplace scenes or ordinary people, with a meticulously detailed realism, flat images, and barely discernible brushwork that suggests an actual photograph.

On display there are 40 paintings, all of which have been created using oil on canvas, Mehr News Agency reported.

Navesi, 66, began painting at the age of 17. In 1972, he moved to Austria to study at the Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts.

So far he has held exhibits in several countries including France, England, Germany, Belgium and Hungary.

Niavaran Cultural Center, located near Niavaran Park on Bahonar Street, will host the show through January 26.
