The exhibition in Tehran is titled ‘Sama in Sama,’ referring to the Sufi ceremony Sama that involves singing, playing instruments, whirling, praying and poetry recitation. The event is slated for November 24-December 11 at Gooya House of Art and Culture located at No. 89, Karim Khan Avenue, Mehr News Agency reported.

The works are based on the poems and writings of some contemporary poets and scholars. They are written in various compositions and layouts,” Kaboli-Khansari said.

Most of the calligraphic works are considered classical, and are adorned with classical illuminations, he added.

His innovative works are in the style of contemporary Shekasteh (broken) Nastaliq, also known as Cursive Nastaliq.

The exhibit also offers a book published two years ago by Gooya Publications containing a selection of the artist’s works. His other publications include ‘Broken Script and How to Read It’, ‘A Guidebook on the Broken Script’, ‘Kelk-Sheydaee’, ‘Quatrains of Baba Taher’ and three collections of choice works namely ‘Mehrab-Khial’, ‘Bagh-Nazar’ and ‘Naqsh-Showq’.
