Exhibit to Honor Dramatist Radi

TEHRAN – (Iranart)- T o mark the 78th birth anniversary of the renowned Iranian playwright Akbar Radi (1939-2007), an exhibition of visual documents of Radi’s works will be held at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran.

The first edition of the exhibit is slated for September 11-20, at the IAF Summer Gallery and is organized by Akbar Radi Foundation in collaboration with Iranshahr Theater Hall, Department of Dramatic Arts and the IAF, ISNA reported.

The event seeks to honor Radi through artworks created regarding his character and works. It will include two sections of ‘graphics’, where posters and book covers of his play will be shown, and ‘photos’ in which Radi’s portraits and stills from his plays will be on display.

On the sideline of the exhibit handwritings and a number of personal possessions of the late artist will be showcased.

Radi’s works have been compared with those of famous Russian playwright Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) and Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906).

‘Melody of Rainy City’, ‘The Descent’, ‘The Fishermen’, ‘Death in the Autumn’, ‘Slowly With the Rose’, ‘Glorious Smile of Mr. Gil’ and ‘Beneath the Passage of Saqqakhaneh’ are among Radi’s better known works.

A bust of Radi was unveiled in April in the northern city of Rasht where he was born.
