TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Belgium director and actor Valentijn Dhaenens will perform the monolog “Bigmouth” at the 36th Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran.
The play will go on stage at the Iranshahr Theater Complex on January 20, 21, 22 and 23, the organizers announced on Monday.
In a report published last January by The Star, Canada’s largest online news site, Dhaenens, who stars in the 80-minute production, said that a powerful speech can change the course of history.
Spanning history from 400 BC up to 9/11, “Bigmouth” juxtaposes speeches from different people who advocated the same themes or were attempting to achieve the same result. He has left events from the last decade alone so that the audience has some sense of objectivity and distance from the subjects.
His subjects range from movie stars, such as Marilyn Monroe, to boxer Muhammad Ali and terrorist Osama bin Laden. But most of the speeches he performs are from politicians.
The 36th Fajr International Theater Festival will take place in Tehran from December 31 to February 1.
