TEHRAN.(Iranart) -- S tage director Mehrdad Khamenei is showing two plays at Ezzatollah Entezami Theater Hall in Tehran.
The first ‘I Am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World’ is at 6 pm followed by ‘Marx in Soho’, Honaronline reported.
Published in 2010, ‘I Am an Emotional Creature’ written by American Tony Award-winning author, performer and activist Eve Ensler, is a collection of original monologues about, and for, girls.
On the reason why he worked on Ensler’s book, Khamenei said, “she is a supporter of the movement to end violence against women. The book seeks to help give hope to young girls. Although it talks about the existing violence in the world, it is a harbinger of a world free of violence”.
The California Journal of Women Writers had this to say about Ensler’s book: “Our society continuously tries to mold girls by throwing images of what they should strive to be, rather than celebrate who they are. The book serves as a call to action for girls everywhere to speak up, follow their dreams and become the woman they were always meant to be.”
Marx in Soho is a 1999 one-man play written by American historian Howard Zinn about the life of 19th-century philosopher Karl Marx.
Zinn wrote the play to show Marx as few people knew him “as a family man, struggling to support his wife and children.”
Ezzatollah Entezami Hall located at No. 28, Ahmadi Alley, Andarzgoo Blvd., Gheytarieh neighborhood, will host the two plays through January 19. Tickets are available at Tiwall.com.
