Alserkal Avenue and Mestaria Gallery smells calligraphy on Saturday, 11th November.Wissam Shawkat is responsible for the Arabic typography and logos of a variety of different brands including Tiffany & Co., Chopard and Dubai Aquarium. He will bring new artworks,Black & White, to Mestaria Gallery.
Iranart:Black & White is an exhibition of works selected from across his oeuvre – from Classical pieces and Al-Wissam Script to the most contemporary Calligraforms –united by an absence of colour_ By removing this visual distraction, the fundamental elements of the works are brought to the fore_ form, shape, and composition reveal themselves without diversion_ The binary nature of positive and negative spaces_ through their minimalist simplicity_ offer the viewer a more accessible study of proportion, depth, weight, and style .
Wissam Shawkat is a renowned Dubai-based master artist in graphic designing, calligraphy and typography. He is originally from Iraq where he received his degree in Civil Engineering from Basra University in 1996. He exhibits all over the world and received many accolades for his work. He has contributed to both private and public collections. He will hold the last collection of his calligraphy in Mestaria Gallery . It located at Alserkal avenue .
