Luri concert at Vahdat Hall

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - The music ensemble ‘Navaye Seymareh’ from Lorestan Province will perform on August 4 at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

Led by composer, singer and lyricist Mehran Ghazanfari, 45, the ensemble, based in the city of Kuhdasht, will perform a repertoire of folk and traditional music from two major ethnic groups in Lorestan, Lur and Lak, Khabaronline reported.

The concert starts at 9:30, featuring Davoud Rezai, concert organizer on kamnacheh (a spike fiddle); Ehsan Abdipour, player of sorna, ancient Iranian woodwind instrument; percussionist Babak Peymani; and Mokhtar Zandsalimi on daf, a large framed drum.

Other members of the band are Amir Reza Ebrahimi on santur, the hammered dulcimer of Iran; tar players Esfandyar Qorbani and Akbar Khosravi; and Hossein Qanbari on keyboard.

Ghazanfari is mostly known for his 2016 album Havar, a collection of Luri ethnic pieces, sung in two dialects of Luri and Lak.

The pieces to be performed at the concert revolve around the concepts of anticipation and joy, hope and national pride.

Vahdat Hall is located on Shahriyar Blvd, Hafez Street, South of Enqelab Avenue.
