Two Solo Albums from Saket
TEHRAN –(Iranart)- T wo new albums by composer and tar and setar virtuoso Keivan Saket have been released. Both albums are solo performances; one on tar and the other on setar. They come with the titles of ‘Siyahmashq Tar’ and ‘Siyahmashq Setar’ (siyahmashq literally means practice), according to Gratomic.com.
The music company Rahapakhsh, based in Tehran, has collaborated with the music master in production and distribution of the albums.
Saket has written a note on his recent works: “The long and short pieces in the albums convey my moods and emotions in different days…”
Among the pieces, there are two which Saket has composed and played in memory of his late father Mohammad-Taqi (1936-2016) who was a scholar and poet; and Farhang Sharif (1931-2016), the renowned musician and tar player.
Covers of the albums are adorned with calligraphic scripts by master calligrapher Gholam-Hossein Amirkhani, 79.
Saket, 57, founded the Vaziri ensemble in 1996. He has written several books on tar and setar, as well as notations on traditional and classical songs.
