Ali Rahbari to Hold Concert, Masterclass in Turkey

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – R enowned Iranian composer and conductor Ali (Alexander) Rahbari, 68, will conduct a masterclass in Izmir, Turkey, February 17-22. The class will be attended by university music teachers and students, Mehr News Agency wrote.

Following the workshop, Rahbari will perform a repertoire of some popular pieces originally composed by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in the city on the Aegean coast.

On March 2, accompanied by Turkey’s National Orchestra, he will join Croatian horn player Radovan Vlatković to stage a concert in Antalya, where they will perform pieces by German composers Johannes Brahms and Richard Strauss as well as pieces by Austrian composer Joseph Hayden.

Maestro Rahbari is a graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He was the conductor of symphony orchestras in Brussels, Prague, Zagreb and Tehran, and has won several international gold and silver medals. Rahbari led the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979 and served as assistant to Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989).

Vlatković, 56, is a former principal horn player of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He left that post in 1990 to devote himself to a solo career and has recorded many pieces by playing horn.
