TEHRAN.(Iranart) ccomplished writer Houshang Moradi Kermani published his first story 47 years ago. Since then he has written many novels and short stories worthy of acclaim, stories that have become very popular among those fascinated by the Persian language.
For his lifetime achievements, the publisher of his works Moein Publication and Bokhara Journal will pay tribute to Kermani at a ceremony on July 4 in Tehran.
Prominent figures such as world-class Iranologist and university professor Jaleh Amouzgar, researcher and educator Noushafarin Ansari, literary critic and researcher Hasan Mir Abedini, manager of Moein Publication Saleh Ramsari, and journalist, Iranologist, researcher and writer Ali Dehbashi will speak on different aspects of Kerman’s literary works and life. A documentary ‘Houshang Moradi Kermani’ will also be shown at the event.
Moradi Kermani, 72, is best known for children’s and young adult fiction. His best known books are the Tales of Majid, The Boot, Cucumber’s End, The Tale of That Vat and Believe it or not (an autobiography published in 2005).
Some of his books have been translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic, and Armenian, as well as some other languages. For his lasting contribution as a children’s writer, he was a finalist in 2014 for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest recognition available to creators of children’s books.
Moreover, some of his books have been made into popular local movies and television shows. The TV show ‘Tales of Majid’ is the most well-known of his shows among Iranian children as well as adults.
The ceremony starts at 5:00pm and will be held at Persian Language Center in Mahmud Afshar Foundation located at No.12, Aref Nasab St, Zaferanieh three-way St., Vali-Asr Avenue.
