Holy Qur'an written with acrylic glass on display in Tehran

TEHRAN.(Iranart)- A large copy of the Holy Qur'an written with acrylic glass is on display at the Tehran International Qur'an Exhibition.

According to IQNA, the 40-page Qur'an weighs over 1,400 kilograms and are made of six millimeter plywood on which verses have been written with acrylic glass.

Some 40 inmates from the Isfahan Central Prison created the massive project.

Various decorations using woodwork techniques such as marquetry, wood carving, wood inlay and the like are among the embellishments of the Qur'an.

The artwork will be donated to the custodianship of Imam Reza's (PBUH) holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

The 25th Tehran International Qur’an Exhibition is underway at the Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Hall (Mosalla) and will run until June 16.

The expo includes sections on Qur'anic activities, international, children and young adults, arts, government organizations and NGOs.

Many of the pavilions in the event showcase works by professional Iranian traditional and visual artists — with the works sharing a common theme: The Holy Qur'an.
