Museum Expert Semsar to Speak in Isfahan

TEHRAN.(Iranart) rt historian, archaeologist, codicologist, author, essayist and museum curator Mohammad Hassan Semsar, 83, will give a special lecture today on ‘Museums from Yesterday till Today’ in Isfahan.

Semsar will share some of his research experience in museums and museum management at the meeting from 9-11 am at Isfahan’s Dehdashti House located at Jahan-Nama Alley, Bab-ol-Rahmeh Street, Darvazeh-Dolat Square.

The lecture is organized by the provincial department of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and is the 11th special meeting to be held under the auspices of the department.

Semsar is a member of the Supreme Scientific Council of the Great Islamic Encyclopedia since 1984. At the encyclopedia, he presided over art and architecture section from 1986-2008. He is a faculty member of Archaeology Department, University of Tehran, and also a specialist at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance for evaluation of artifacts and manuscripts.  His books include: ‘History of Iranian Art’ (1974); ‘Museums of Iran’ (1966); ‘Historical Geography of Siraf’ (1978); ‘Tehran in Picture’ (co-authored in 1990); and ‘Golestan Palace, A Treasure of Books and Manuscripts’ (2000).
