Iranologist Jahangir Dorri dies at 87

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Moscow-based expert on Iranian studies, Jahangir Dorri, died of natural causes at 87 last Wednesday, the Persian media announced on Saturday.

He was the son of former Iranian cultural attaché in Moscow under the Soviet government and worked as a professor of the Persian language at the Moscow State University for over 50 years.

He was the author nine books including “My Iran” and “Pose of Persian Satire”. A Persian translation of his memoirs “The Living Iranian” by Mahnaz Noruzi was published in Iran in 2015.

Fifteen books by Iranian writers, including Hushang Moradi Kermani’s “Children of the Carpet Weaving House”, have been translated into Russian by Dorri.
