Rosalie Ham’s Dressmaker in Persian by Morvarid Publication
TEHRAN. (Iranart) - A dark satirical novel of love, revenge and the 1950s haute couture written by Australian author Rosalie Ham is translated in Persian. Titled “The Dressmaker,” it was translated by Maryam Sa’adatmand-Bahri and published by Morvarid Publication.
First published in 2000, it is the story of an Australian small town girl, Tilly Dunnage, who returns home after 20 years. During her absence, she had mastered the art of dressmaking at couture houses in Paris. She comes to see her ailing mother, Molly.
Molly had sent Tilly away at the age of ten because of false accusations of murder, after the death of a fellow student. On her return, old resentments of her past reemerge and she plans to take revenge on the town people. Rosalie Ham, 63, is a writer, radio and stage playwright, best known for her debut novel The Dressmaker, which was adapted into a film starring Kate Winslet, Judy Davis and Liam Hemsworth in 2015.
