Tennessee Williams’ One-Act Play Adapted

TEHRAN (Iranart) -An adaptation of the play “The Case of Crushed Petunias” written by Tennessee Williams (1911-1983) is to go on stage at Gandom Art and Cultural Institute in Tehran on June 20 under the directorship of Marjan Bakht-Minoo.

Thomas Lanier Williams III, better known by the nickname Tennessee Williams, is considered a major American playwright of the 20th century who received several theatrical awards for his works.

A one-act play written in 1956, The Case of the Crushed Petunias is a story of Dorothy Simple, a woman trapped in her job at a clean and tidy shop in Massachusetts. Her complacent existence is interrupted by a visit from a tall man who, she discovers, trampled on her petunias the night before. He helps her break free from the  dreary life.
