Adorian Temple

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Adorian Fire Temple is in downtown Tehran. The Qajar-era temple belonging to the Zoroastrian community is located on Mirza Kouchak Khan Street, north of Jomhouri Avenue.

The fire burning in the temple is said to be a Varahram fire brought from Yazd, capital of Yazd Province. Legend has it that the fire is a combination of 15 fires on Earth and one fire from the sky (lightning). The 15 earthly fires were taken from different guilds including from dyers, tillers, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, minters, bakers, distillers and armorers among others.

Adorian Fire Temple was registered as a national heritage in 2003.
