Simmel’s Philosophy of Money in Persian

Simmel’s Philosophy of Money in Persian

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The 1900 book on economic sociology “The Philosophy of Money,” written by German sociologist, philosopher and critic Georg Simmel (1858-1918) is now available in Persian.

Considered Simmel’s greatest work, the book describes money as a structuring agent helping civilizations understand the totality of life. Translator of social works Shahnaz Mosammaparast has rendered the book in Persian. Of Simmel’s works, she earlier translated “On Individuality and Social Forms.” The Tehran-based publishing house Parseh Book has released the Persian translation which comes in 708 pages, ISNA reported on its Persian website.

Simmel believed people created value by making objects, then separating themselves from those objects and then trying to overcome that distance. He found that objects that were too close were not considered valuable and objects that were too far away for people to obtain were also not considered valuable.
