Menacing Willow Trees

Menacing Willow Trees

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Aradman Publication has released a Persian translation of a book by one of the prolific writers of ghost stories in the history of the genre.

The Willows is written by Algernon Blackwood (1869-1951) and is rendered into Persian by Asadollah Haqani, ISNA reported.

The story begins with two friends who are midway on a canoe trip down the Danube River. Throughout the story Blackwood personifies the surrounding environment - river, sun and wind - and imbues them with a powerful and ultimately threatening character. Most ominous are the masses of dense, desultory, menacing willows, which can move, as though alive.
