Review on Sanai’s Letters
TEHRAN. (Iranart) - A selection of letters written by Persian poet Sanai is to be reviewed by scholar, author and literary researcher Bahram Parvin-Gonabadi at the cultural center of Book City Institute in Tehran.
At a meeting slated for April 11, Pavin-Gonabadi will seek to shed light on some of the poet’s letters that contain some of his teachings, according to Iran Student Correspondents Association.
Abul-Majd Majdud ibn Adam Sanai Ghaznavi (1080-1131) served Bahram-Shah of Ghazni (1084-1157), sultan of the Ghaznavid empire, as a court poet, spending many years praising the king and his court. But later he changed course and became devoted to God and abruptly left the court. Sanai is famous particularly on account of his homiletic poetry as well as his correspondence which is a body of mystical literature.
