Shahanameh in Prose

Shahanameh in Prose

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iranian House of Humanities Thinkers, based in Tehran, will hold the unveiling ceremony of the book ‘Naqals’ Shahanameh’ on February 28.

Shahnameh (book of kings) is the long epic poem book of renowned Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020), and naqal is a person who both narrates and plays in stories from the Iranian fables, myths and epics, usually the ones in Shahnameh.

Written by Abbas Zariri-Esfahani, the book has been printed by Qoqnoos (phoenix) Publication in five volumes, Mehr News Agency wrote.

As Ferdowsi’s epic poems in Shahnameh are not easy for all to grasp, particularly the youth, Naqals’ Shahanameh is in prose and easier to follow. It can also, as the title suggests, be used by those who want  to recount the stories like naqals.

Persian language researchers Abolfazl Khatibi and Sajjad Aidenlou, Iranologist and university instructor Jaleh Amouzegar and chief editor of Bokhara magazine Ali Dehbashi will speak at the event about Shanameh, naqali and the 5-volume title.

To add luster to the event, naqals Amir Sadeqi and Ali Nari will recite tales from the Shahnameh.
