Qeysari’s Story Collection Set for London Debut

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - Public Feast’ (in Persian Jashn-e-Hamegani), a short story collection by writer Majid Qeysari, 51, has been translated into English and will be unveiled at the London Book Fair (LBF), April 10-12, 2018.

It is translated by Iranian translator Sajedeh Asna-Ashari, based in UK, in collaboration with Candle & Fog, a publishing house with branches in Tehran and London.

The translation is under final edit by US-based novelist, poet, essayist, anthropologist and editor Michael McIrvin, Mehr News Agency reported.

The original Persian edition of the book was released in Iran less than a year ago. It includes six short stories revolving around mythological, ideological and religious concepts. It is an area of special interest of the editor - intersection of language and mythology.

In his recent work, Qeysari has let go of war narratives he used to work on, and shifted to diverse themes rooted in mythology and beliefs.
